Hi Gail,

You need to keep the proper page numbering as printed in the book.
If you change it, then anyone using the book for reference won't be able to
access the proper pages. Please don't change them. If you're using
Kurzweil 1000 to validate, and the announced page number differing from the
printed one is confusing you, you can fix that.

Find the real page 1, the one with the number printed on it. Or
count backward to it from the page with the first printed page number on it.
From that point, go to the navigation menu, down-arrow to "set operator
defined page number," and hit enter. Here it will tell you to enter a new
page number. Number page 1 1 here, then tab to "ok" and hit enter. This
will keep you from messing up the page count in the book because you're
making them not match the actually and properly numbered printed page
numbers. If you are using the rtf file, you may need to set the operator
defined page number each time that you open the file. That's okay, at least
the page numbering will be accurate this way.

Mayrie

The chapter started with page 7. If you change the number, you're going to
have to renumber the pages in the whole book. That seems a lot of work.
Btw, don't know what was on pages 1 and 2, but except for beginning chapter
pages and what I suspect are picture pages, they all had numbers.
Glad you like the book.

        I am validating:

        BIG MUTT
        by JOHN REESE

Thouroughly eenjoying the book. I started the chapter 1 with page
1.
Other than this change haven't done anything else different. Again
        this is a superb scan.
