Iâve been putting spaces in; I thought that thatâs what we decided, so I was
doing it. Iâm also wanting to know if it doesnât matter or if weâre no longer
supposed to put them in. we OCDs want to know! *grin*

When you say the spaces are not necessary, are you saying they are not allowed?
My argument would be that you can avoid the whole mess by inserting the space
between the asterisks. It is very difficult to help someone once they have
created a border row or if they have to undo formatting any significant time
after the fact.
Don't get me wrong, it's easier for me to type three straight asterisks,
however I don't like having someone have a problem when they get it in their
word processor from my scan. I would just like to avoid the problem from the
get-go. Smiles.

Hi everyone,
Hereâs what weâve come up with after conversations with blind and sighted staff
members regarding asterisks: Spaces between the asterisks are not necessary.
Naturally, we do not want the lack of spaces to cause Word to change the
asterisks into a weird line of squares or strange characters, so make sure to
keep them as three asterisks. I found Marilynâs instructions especially clear
and concise so Iâm reposting them here:
After you put those three asterisks and press [Return], the first turns into a
bullet. Do a Command Z ("undo") and it will revert the bullets back to stars.
Or what I usually do is type two [Returns]s in a row, go to the top blank line
I just made, put the three asterisks (with spaces or not, it doesn't matter)
and then I arrow down one line and that's where the text goes.
