Good morning everyone:

I began the BookshareScans Website back in August of 2004.
At the time, I had stated it was a pilot project based on how much participation I received from the bookshare community.

After 9 and a half months, I feel that the project has proven its value, with 1 exception.

Therefore, in response to low utilization, I am discontinuing the upcoming books page effective immediately.

On the other hand, The "no book left behind list," marissa's list, and the rescan page have worked out fairly well.

(By the way, I need to come up with a jazzier name for Marissa's list)
Any ideas?
Have a good night everyone.

I'm happy to keep the link live on the Volunteer List, but I think Rui's
page already does a fine job of explaining the different lists. I can
make it more explicit, like "visit here to find the list of upcoming
books being scanned," if that makes it clearer to people.

Best,
Marissa

Jill,

Rui maintains just such a list, but people have to let
him know what they're scanning. I don't know whether
he notes the info when it's posted here or not.
Unfortunately, I'm not sure if people who aren't on
this list know about Rui's list, although I think
Marissa posted the info on the Volunteer page online.
If there's a quarterly newsletter that goes out to all
volunteers maybe she or her replacement could put in
(again?) the informationa bout Rui's lists.

I would like to suggest that a list be created in
which we could list the books we are scanning. Many
of us do this on this list but we know there are
scanners for Bookshare who are not on this list. I
haven't had this happen to me yet but would be very
upset if I spent a lot of time carefully scanning a
book just to discover that someone submitted it just
days before I was ready. What do the rest of you
think of this idea; I wonder if ?Rui would be
willing to maintain such a list for us. By the way I
am going to be scanning Baker Towers by Jennifer
