Bookshare Online Chat Room To Open Friday, June 8, 2007

In an effort to utilize the power of the Internet to enhance communication
between those of us who are actively working to expand the Bookshare.org
collection, , a special initiative is being launched Friday of this week at
1:00 p.m. Pacific, 2:00 p.m. Mountain, 3:00 p.m. Central, and 4:00 p.m.
Eastern in the newly created Bookshare Chat Room.

Bookshare members and volunteers reside in many parts of the world so
attending a meeting in a brick and mortar building isn't possible. The chat
room will allow everyone to attend and share ideas, get answers to questions
immediately, and form a community of friends with a common interest without
leaving home or office.

During this first meeting, we will want to decide the best day, time, and
duration for the next and subsequent weekly meetings. Also, we will
brainstorm ideas for topics to discuss in the weeks ahead.

All you need to attend is a PC running Windows 2000 or later, an Internet
connection, a sound card, and speakers. A microphone will be needed to allow
you to interact audibly with each other. If, however, you do not have a
microphone, text chatting will be available.

The Bookshare Chat Room is located at:

If this is the first time you have entered a Talking Communities chat room,
you will need to install and then run the Talkcom software. It is very small
and safe to install on your computer.

When the installation is complete, return to the sign-in screen and select
the Enter Room button. Enter your first and last name, Leave the Password
field blank.
tab to the log in button, and press Enter.

That's it. You will be in the chat room and can begin talking with others in
the room by pressing and holding down the Control key.

Recording of each session is available. This will enable each attendee to
capture the event on his/her own computer for future reference and note
taking.

Remember, too, that the room is open 24/7 so you are free to stop by any
time.

Mark your calendars right away so you will be a part of this new event. .
Also, invite all your friends. Seating is unlimited.

See you Friday, June 8!
