I'd first check to see if, in fact, punctuation was set the way you want.----- Original Message ----- From: "Jill O'Connell" <jillocon@xxxxxxxxxx>

Jackie Hopefully you can answer this question for me. When I am scanning I have punctuation set to all. Yesterday I noticed a line of stars on the bottom of the page; however, Kurzweil didn't mention these at all. Up to now I have assumed that if Kurzweil doesn't read it, nothing shows up on the screen. Am I right or not? The default is some. Change it to all using your arrow keys. You can either do it on the fly when u start a validating session or make it the default by saving your settings as default. Then u could make another settings file, called reading, for example, in which punctuation is set to some or none when you're using k1000 for pleasure reading. Or u could save the settings file & call it validate & just load it at the start of a validating session. Kind a depends on how u use your k1000 most often. Hth. There wasa lot of slang in this book also. A relatively new validator might be shy about arguing with the automated tools, but they aren't perfect. It's up to those of us who validate to correct the validator when it triesto give a good rating to a book that is, in actuality, excellent. Just guessing about this though. I worked really hard on it, and I noticed it had a "good" rating, instead of an "excellent"rating. Does anyone know why? I always want to improve my scans and I'mbaffled why this gets a "good" rating. It has a lot of dialogue but that'sall I can think of. Thanks.
