Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Adult Content from NLS, interesting

Looking at last Set/Oct NLS Braille Book review. Normally I dislike that so
much of the "Adult Fiction" is for junior and senior high readers. Some of
the other books say "explicit descriptions of sex, violence, and strong
language." Ok. But read the description of this one. If it were being
scanned into Bookshare would it be marked Adult Content because of the sex
and violence? "Copper Sunday by Sharon Draper, 2 volumes. Amari is taken
from her African village when she is fifteen and sold to a southern
plantation owner in America. Amari and Polly, a white indentured servant,
risk everything to escape. Descriptions of sex and violence. For senior high
and older readers. Coretta Scott King Award. 2006."
And what makes the difference of descriptions of vs. explicit?????
