I've thought about that but, believe it or not, really don't like to make waves. Months ago before more staff was hired I did write to Gustavo and said that at least I thought Empire Falls should be added since it was an award winning book but got no response.

Hi Jill,
Gustavo said he would try and accomadate volunteers who were close to the membership goal. Send him an email with the three titles and the fact you're very close to attaining your renewal which is do shortly.

Thank you Katie. My membership is up on the fourth of July and I have three
BSO books stuck in the queue; I am so close to meeting the member fee that
approving those books would put me over the top. I think your idea has real
merit!

HI Cindy,

I won't shoot you but it is an approach...

Here's a suggestion--but don't shoot me for it smile.
Suppose we go ahead and validate as we're doing, and we post here so we
know
what's going on, but we keep the finished products until Gustsavo has
emptied the Q. Then we can upload the work we've done. Those of you who
need
the credits for your next membership can go ahead and upload--(but in the
meantime others whose books are stuck in the Q aren't receiving the
credits
for membership) Those who can afford to wait a while for their credits
can.

Just a suggestion. I seem to remember that after last Christmas Gustavo
jokingly said he needed books to approve. Maybe we can make him beg again.

No, sadly we havne't gotten a response, and as Evan
pointed out, I've raised the question before, only not
in relation to this particular book. But there are so
many books that have been on that list for months and
months--all the BSOs, for example, and I've had others
there for months before finally being accepted. And
only one of the books added last time was from the
admin queue.

Perhaps that's why there's now a Good copy of
Disability politics in the collection when someone
else went to the trouble of scanning it and Lisa tried
to validate it. It was probably sitting in the Q and
they didn't know it. What a waste of their time!!

ON this topic of how books are approved. TO me it
seems very logical to
approve books in a first in first out manner. Have
we ever gotten an answer
on why it is not done this way except for in special
cases?

You mentioned this a couple months ago, if I recall
correctly, and didn't
get a response then either.
