Actually, I think when people respond to requests to
validate a book or get a book to help someone it would
be best if the response would first be posted rather
than go the requester. That way nobody else will try
to get the book or offer to help. After that,
responses can be offlist. For example, I didn't see
Anastasia's response to Shelley about the Magical Bus
until I'd requested it and posted that I'd get it. It
was no problem, because I was able to cancel the
request instantly.

Just a suggestion.
