I think you are supposed to number all preliminary pages, including the blank pages. Also, you can number with arabic numbers backward from 7, then from there to the top of your book file with roman numerals. HTH!

puts you on the correct path, but, do not put roman numbers on the title
page. So, use roman numbers accordingly without putting roman numbers on the
title page.
