Hi, I have a little trick which I use at the end of the proofreading
session. If I've decided to stop, I start at the beginning of a chapter. On
the page where the chapter is located I write the following: [start here].
This line comes between the page number and the chapter number. If there is
a single space where the chapter name is written below the page number, I
press the enter key to create a blank line where I write in left and right
brackets "start here". After this I save what I've written. I then make a
copy of the document and place it in a subfolder with the name of the
author. I paste the file in and hit f2 so I can add the date. (e.g.
John_Barleycorn-02--17-2015.rtf.Every time I proofread, I make copies of my
work, delete the previous copy and add the new one with the name, date, etc.
So I'm little by little deleting former files while the newest copy has more
stuff which I've proofread until I've finished the whole thing. When I've
finished the file, I make a copy of it without a date on it. This goes in my
proofread subfolder under the author's name, and I send the file up for
approval. Regards, Kim Friedman. P.S.: If this is unclear to you, write me
back. As for textbooks, I don't proofread those, but maybe folks who do can
give you some nice pointers. K.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] A few proofreading questions and asking about
textbooks

Hi, when you guys proof read a book how do you guys keep track of where you
were in the book, because some books are very very very long and you might
lose your place easily?
Also, is proofreading text books much different than regular books? And is
there any other requirements that I need you before I proofread a textbook?
Can you proofread a textbook that you requested? But you did not scan?
