Evan, I think the scanner now on the market is the 3900 or 4900.

Subject: [bksvol-discuss] 3800 or 3900
Hey Guys,
After a little over five years of fairly heavy use, it appears my 3600 might be
starting to fail. For the second time in the last couple weeks, when I turned
it on and K1000 told it to scan, it made a sound as though it was trying to
scan, but gave up after a few seconds. It actually sounded kind of like the
sound it makes when it finishes up a scan and is positioning itself for the
next one; but this time it wouldn’t scan. When I turned it off and back on
again, it worked fine. But this hasn’t happened before the first time a couple
weeks ago, so I’m beginning to wonder if it might be about to quit.
I definitely want a book edge scanner, so I’m wondering if anyone here can tell
me the differences between the 3800 and the 3900. Is one faster than the other?
Does either one use USB 3.0, and if so, does that speed up the scanning?
Thanks for any info.
Evan
