This morning, Judy and I monitored the Prothonotary Warbler (PROW) nest
boxes at John James Audubon State Park (Henderson, KY)...four of the twelve
boxes around the periphery of Recreation Lake (15 acres) have the beginning
of a PROW nest...probably started by the male PROW; two of the nest boxes
have complete PROW nests---ready for eggs. I observed one male PROW
observing me (I'm watching you watching me...)---he was only a few feet
above me as I monitored "his" nest box; I heard other PROWs singing around
other parts of the lake.

Thus far, the 20 bluebird nest boxes in the park have yielded fledglings for
several species...Eastern Bluebirds, Carolina Chickadees, and Carolina
Wrens. Currently, five boxes have bluebird clutches, two boxes have
chickadee clutches, and one box has a Tree Swallow clutch.

Respectfully submitted,
Bob Peak
Henderson County, KY

Subject: [birdky] FYI: Prothonotary at AT ; 4/25 ; 4/27 & 5/6/12

Dear Pat & Jane,
FYI: Although we started in the heat of the afternoon, yesterday  (Sun,
5/6/12) Michael Auten, Myself & his friend Troy heard a Prothonotary; and on
Wed 4/25/12 I had 4 or 5 min of watching a bright spring bird hop around
edges and over creek, by the  first long boardwalk to Nature Trail &
overlook at  near end of Willow Lake, and heard him again that Fri 4/27/12.
Michael noticed you didn't have it on your trail compilation of sightings.
 happy birding! Gerald Heath
