I visited Minor Clark and Shallow Flats on Monday, September 1 from 8:15 AM to noon. There were only two drained ponds at the hatchery. On my last visit there on August 14 there were at least four drained ponds. All four of those ponds had been refilled. There wasn't much mud available for shorebirds. Minor Clark: 2 Adult Bald Eagles 1 Red-shouldered Hawk 1 Black and White Warbler 1 American Redstart Numerous Green Heron 5 Great Blue Heron 7 Least Sandpiper 2 White-rumped Sandpiper Lots of Killdeer Shallow Flats: 2 Red-shouldered Hawks being mobbed by several crows 2 Adult Bald Eagles 3 Common Yellowthroats 2 Tufted Titmice Birds were nearly absent from both places.
