I saw my first pretty good mixed flock of warblers of the year. In fact, I think it's been years since I've seen more than just one or two warbler species at a time. They were all in the sassafras corner margin of my pine thicket. None seemed to be elsewhere in my woods or pine thicket. I saw 4 species that I could ID - Black-and-white, Magnolia, Yellow and Golden-winged. Golden-winged is a new species for me. A number of other birds were also gathered in that same corner - Blue-gray Gnatcatcher, White-breasted Nuthatch, Field Sparrow, Mockingbird, Chickadee, Titmouse, Towhee, Cardinal. Also saw 4 Rough-winged Swallows on power line before I got back to the house, and Red-headed Woodpeckers on two different poles.
