Two miles North of Dot in Logan County - Young Kestrel or Kestrels have been
going back inside the box each time I approach barn from the field. This
afternoon, I set up the scope by the East shop window and trained it on the
perch extending out from the box. Carved a while, stopping every now and then
to look out the window. Eventually one came out. I sat and watched it, snapping
one picture after another through the scope. It kept looking all around and
shifting positions. It went back inside once, but didn’t stay in long before
coming back out. I kept snapping and watching….then suddenly it was gone and it
had not gone back inside. I blinked and missed its first flight.
