While getting back from fishing this morning I heard the song of a White-crowned Sparrow. Thinking a mockingbird was playing tricks on me I looked around for the bird (I did not have binocs at first) and found it. Did a quick playback of its song and it switched to alarm chips and got really agitated. I had my co-worker grab me some binocs just to get a visual on the bird. I assume this is just a really really late migrant as I have not heard it singing around the area until today. While picking up catfish jugs this morning on the Kentucky River on the Madison/Clark county line I had a few decent breeders: Acadian Flycatcher- several Worm-eating Warbler- 1 Prothonotary Warbler- 6-7 males Yellow-throated Vireo- 3 Yellow-throated Warbler-2 I also found a nesting colony of Cliff Swallows above Silver Creek yesterday. ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== When posting on BIRDKY, please close posts with your first and last name and your address (city or county). * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To post on BIRDKY, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS website at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos/default.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the KOS Photo Page to view photos of birds recently sighted in Kentucky: http://www.flickr.com/groups/kentucky_ornithological_society/pool * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison.
