2/24/07 7:30AM to Noon
overcast, strong east wind, 35º rising to 45º
Light rain started at 11 and was heavy by 11:30

Sloughs: Sauerheber, Wood Tract, Anderson Pond, 268 slough, Horseshoe Road slough, Grassy Pond/Powell's Lake Unit, Crenshaw Tract

Highlights
Turkey 50 in a flock east of Sauerheber, another 25 near Anderson Pond. The biggest flocks I've seen since over a month ago west of Owensboro.
Short-eared Owl near Grassy Pond
Common Golden Eye 4 at 268 slough, a pair at Horseshoe Road slough
Red Heads across the road from Wood Tract
Cooper's Hawk at Crenshaw Tract
Bald Eagle Imm. at Wood Tract, another at Grassy Pond
Am. Coot at 268 slough
White-crowned Sparrows at Grassy Pond
Tree Sparrow at Grassy Pond

Other observations:
Robins everywhere.
20 Carolina Chickdees together working over the edge of the water at Crenshaw Tract Waterfowl in general had spread out all over western Henderson County, not just crowded onto the WMA
Anderson Pond almost deserted.
No Tundra Swans seen.
Ring-billed Gulls here and there scattered in small numbers.
Wood Ducks everywhere.

Charlie
Henderson Co.
