[birdky] Sloughs Fieldtrip

The KOS/Beckham fieldtrip to the Sloughs WMA in
Henderson County will be held Saturday, April 12, as
scheduled.
Meet at the observation deck near the entrance to
Hardy Slough at 0800 cdst. Bring lunch, clothes
suitable for marshing, and extra dry clothes (pants,
socks, and shoes),to change into for the ride home.
We will likely spend the first part of the morning
looking at waterfowl and shorebirds while allowing the
temperature to rise to comfortable levels for
marshing. Late morning and afternoon will be spent
flushing those wonderful marsh birds.
Most water will be ankle-deep or less, but depths may
reach calf-deep when crossing an occassional ditch.
You may also elect to stay dry by walking the levees,
but may miss a few birds.
Directions to the meeting place are as follows:
Pennyrile Parkway south from Henderson to hwy 425.
425 will turn into 136. Straight through this
intersection on 136 to Geneva, then turn right on 268.
Hardy Slough will be 4-5 miles on the left. There
are two observation decks at Hardy Slough, and we will
meet at the 2nd one with the larger gravel parking
area.
