Greetings from the Magoffin/Morgan county line not far from Caney.
FOS Ruby Throated Hummingbird was seen this AM in the Rhododendron in
front of the house. Later in the day our FOS male Rose Breasted Grosbeak
visited one of the sunflower feeders in the back yard. Probably saw a
female RBG at the same feeder two days ago but thought it may have been a
straggler female Purple Finch. The last day they were present in good
numbers was April 11.
Glad to report the arrival of a Whip Poor Will at 6:26 AM on April 11. I
hear him from my bedroom window. Other morning singing has occurred at
6:02, 6:12, 6:14 and 5:55 (this morning!). His evening serenades--when
not drowned out by a game or show on TV--have been at 11 PM, 8:41 and
8:46.
