Fred Busroe, Steve Bonney, Jeff Lewis and I took a pontoon out today to take a look at the eagle nests on Cave Run. Nest #2 (Reynold's Hollow) definitely has at least one young in the nest. The adults and the young one put on quite a show for the media that was with us. Nest #3 had an adult close to the nest and appears to have young. We did not see any feeding, but Fred saw behavior yesterday that would indicated young in the nest. We went the mouth of Buck Creek to see if the Great Blue Heron nests were active. We found at least 3 active nest with adults sitting on nest. They built one nest on a smaller snag that was not there last year. We also saw to immature eagles, one with a white head but dark tail, flying and doing mating behavior....the rolls, drops and such. The wind was awful, white capping the lake and the air chilly. All in all, it was a wonderful day. Who could ask for more? Happy Earth Day to all. Evelyn Morgan Cave Run Lake one4est@xxxxxxxxx
