In case some have not heard, TS Lee apparently brought a Frigatebird to Nashville's Old Hickory Lake yesterday. The only really good bird I've heard about in KY was an apparent Sabine's Gull at Barren River Lake yesterday. This would be an 8th state record and a new location for the state; if anyone is out that way and relocates the bird it would be nice to have confirmation of its presence. Yesterday afternoon, several local birders converged on the Falls of the Ohio after Eddie Huber's report to see what the blustery weather had brought in here. In addition to Eddie's earlier report, the following were seen: 4 spp of terns (17 Caspian, 1 Black, 1 Forster's, and 6 Commons). Shorebirds included 9 Semipalmated Plovers, 5 Buff-breasted Spipers, 4 Sanderlings, and maybe a couple of dozen Least/Semi Spipers. Newly arrived waterfowl included at least 20 Blue-winged Teal and 7 Northern Shovelers. Eddie ran by there this morning and most of the shorebirds and terns were gone. Today, my yard has been full of birds ... mostly common stuff, but a female Rose-breasted Grosbeak has shown up at the sunflower feeder and several species of warblers, a female/imm. Orchard Oriole (VERY late!) and a small group of Baltimore Orioles have joined the local goldfinches and indigos. bpb, Louisville ================NOTES TO SUBSCRIBERS============== The BIRDKY Mailing List requires you to sign your messages with first & last name, city, & state abbreviation. -------------------------------------------------- To post to this mailing list, send e-mail to: birdky@xxxxxxxxxxxxx -------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, send e-mail to: birdky-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx with 'unsubscribe' in the Subject line. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Visit the Kentucky Ornithological Society web site at http://www.biology.eku.edu/kos.htm * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * BIRDKY List Manager: Gary Ritchison, Richmond, KY E-mail: gary.ritchison@xxxxxxx
