Made a short trip to BWMA this morning looking for shorebirds. My time was limited so I only went to the Mitchell lake area. Recent heavy rain has covered the mudflat at the levee but it will be exposed soon. The far northwest end of Mitchell is also looking very good but the presence of several bald eagles catching carp may be keeping some birds out. I did see a distant group of peeps go in on that end but could not relocate them. Also had a solitary and spotted on the north end. All other shorebirds were on lower beaver dam slough.
