Greetings: We saw our first fall Rose Breasted Grosbeak at one of our sunflower feeders this morning. Appeared to be a first year male flying solo. Did not see him again. We envy those of you that are able to run sprinklers. The Magoffin-Morgan-Wolfe region where we live is in extreme drought and our water source is a 350' drilled well. Many of our feeder regulars are now locating poke berries and seed along much of our .8 mile gravel driveway. Due to the late killing freeze and dry weather, the resident population changed some this summer. I appreciate all of your reports because they often confirmed what I thought I was hearing or seeing. Indigo buntings spent much time close to our home this year I saw my first Blue Winged and Cerulean warblers on the property too. Black and Whiles along with Red and White Eyed Vireos were abundant as were Chats-seems like we had 3 nesting groups. Returned last week from Traverse City in northern Michigan near the area where Kirtland Warblers stay. While traveling, we saw a bald eagle join some vultures for a road kill deer feast. Was peculiar to see a bird with such a "dignified" image scrappin" at the carrion trough. Doug Hennig Magoffin County near exit 60 on the Mountain Parkway
