Most responded correctly that the sleeping songbird is an American Goldfinch in basic (winter) plumage. The forked, black-and-white tail and overall drab coloration are the best clues. Without a size comparision, a female Evening Grosbeak would be the only other good candidate, but the overall tone of the dull gray color would be a bit different.
