For one thing, I am most jealous about your loggerhead shrike sightings. I
don't know why they don't seem to "like" Franklin Co. But, I am happy for you,
lucky ducky! For another, we had a Blue grosbeak yesterday at our place in
Northern Franklin Co. He was mostly interested in eating, not singing, so he
probably moved on, but that was a real treat. We got good looks. Happy Birding,
birding scientists!

On my way to work, on Tuesday morning, I spotted a Shrike on the roadside
utility wire, about a mile west of the house. I'd often seen them there,
until a few years ago, but they've been absent like the ones we'd had around
our house during past winters.
This evening I was delighted to see a Shrike hunting from the utility wire
about 200 yards west of our property, along Schochoh Road. It was in sight
for at least 30 minutes. I got one passable photo - Flickr link follows.
