15 February 2010 Today, I visited Lake Herndon in Logan County and Guthrie Swamp in Southern Todd County. At the time of observation of Lake Herndon, snow was falling and the wind was blowing. Additionally, the birds were to the south and the sun was an issue. However, I did observe: Canada Goose, ~60 Gadwall, 6 American Wigeon, 1 Mallard, ~20 American Coot, 6 & Hermit Thrush, 1. At the southern basins of Guthrie Swamp, only 6 Ring-billed Gulls were observed of note. At the northeast basin, an adult Bald Eagle was observed flying over the swamp. Another adult Bald Eagle was observed perched near the nest a short distance to the NE. Nothing in/on the nest was observed. However the wind was strong and snow and snow was falling lightly. That concludes this report.
