This is the Kentucky Bird Line, sponsored by the Kentucky Ornithological
Society.  This update is current as of June 2, 2004 at 7:00 AM EDT.  The
highlights of this update are:
 
Late spring migrants this week include a single CONNECTICUT WARBLER, and
a single CANADA WARBLER in Jefferson County. Also in Jefferson last week
were 2 PURPLE FINCHES.
 
McElroy Lake was host to 15 BLACK-BELLIED PLOVER, 5 WHITE-RUMPED
SANDPIPER, and 4 DUNLIN on the 24th. 
 
Of interest in the breeding bird category were 2 broods of HOODED
MERGANSER in 
Ballard WMA, seen on the 26th.  A CUCK-WILL'S-WIDOW  nest was located
in Fleming County this week. 2 male BOBOLINK  were observed in flight
display on Stringtown Road in Bourbon County. And the state first 2
GOLDEN-WINGED WARBLER nests have been recorded. 
 
Lastly on the 26th a MISSISSIPPI KITE was seen on Lower Douglas Lake in
Hardin County, and several BANK SWALLOWS were observed in the Ballard
WMA.
