Hamm? This question is beyond any answer from me. You'll have to ask the expert (Bob Sargent) I quoted. I have NO idea! I probably don't even understand your question. It did seem that at times there was a lot of feeder defending by certain individuals. At other times, at the two window units where I could get a more accurate count, there would be 8 hummies on the two 4-port feeders while 2 or 3 hovered just over them. Of course the other 4 feeders were being used heavily also. You talk about a feeder sustaining maybe 2 birds?? I don't know how many a feeder sustains, but I remember filling one 8 oz. feeder in the am, filling it again after 4 hrs., again after 6 hrs., and it was maybe 1/3 full by "quittin time"!! I enjoyed this so very much. In a poem my Mother wrote in her later years she stated; "I FEEL I NEED A RESPONSE FROM EVERY LIVING THING I TOUCH" The older I get the more I feel the same!
