Beckham Bird Club Field Trip to the Anchorage Trail in Louisville It was a wet morning with off and on showers. At one point we decided to quit but the rain stopped when we got back to the cars so we decided to continue on with the field trip and we were glad we did. The wet birders found 51 species including 12 species of warblers. A Connecticut Warbler was seen only by a leader as it popped up once and disappeared. Other birds of interest were Yellow-bellied Flycatcher, White-eyed Vireo, Blue-winged Teal, Rose-breasted Grosbeak, a beautiful Wood Thrush, Philadelphia Vireos, Veery, Prairie Warbler, and Parula. Another interesting sight was at a patch of Jewel Weed where lots of Ruby-throated Hummingbirds were buzzing all over the flowers, chasing one another and taking breaks on the nearest twig. A good trip despite the rain.
