A couple of days ago we saw a pair of Catbirds on our afternoon walk. I seldom
see Catbirds during the breeding season. Usually just see them in spring or
fall. Saw a Crested Flycatcher on a tomato stake in the garden this morning.

I posted a picture of a baby Red-winged Blackbird on our web site -
http://www.lyneart.com/THOUGHTS.HTM

I'm suspect that a Horned Owl killed a baby skunk in the yard night before
last. Clues - 1. Skunk odor in the night - 2. Yesterday morning Mama skunk
dragged the limp carcass of one of her babies through the doggie door of the
shop. - 3. A baby skunk face with the skull missing found in the front yard. I
recall reading that Horned Owls sometimes eat only the brains.

The three remaining skunks filed out of the shop after I shined a flashlight in
their hiding place under a wood pile. They didn't seem to like the flashlight
beam. Haven't yet found the carcass of the dead one.
