CKAS braved the rain this morning, at least three of us did. We were rewarded
with 37 species including a good look at a Merlin near the entrance to the park
at Lake Reba. We were scanning a field full of Starlings, Robins and Grackles
to see if we could pull anything else out when everything took to the air. The
cause was the Merlin. He did not catch anything while we were watching. We
eventually found him perched in the subdivision just outside the park. We also
had a small flock of Tree Swallows over the lake. We did see a nice mix of ten
different waterfowl species for the day. We had one other raptor, a juvenile
Sharp-shinned/Cooper's. We managed a few photos if anyone wants to take a stab
at the ID.
