This spring I've discovered the power of eBird! What a wonderful resource. Now
I know where and when to look for certain target species. However, to the shame
of us Kentuckians, most of it's benefit has been when I take out of state
trips. I would never have found a red-cockaded woodpecker, Bachman's sparrow,
or golden-cheecked warbler without eBird. We have some fantastic local rarities
that just don't get the representation that they deserve. I'm sure that there's
cerulean warblers nesting around here somewhere, for instance. I just don't
know where to look. I've started logging sightings this spring, I hope more of
you join me!
