I took a walk this morning up the railroad tracks near my home here on Dismal River Road. In spite of the cool "blackberry winter" temperature the birds were very active. I managed to log 40 species in a matter of a couple of hours. I hope to see everyone at the BCBC meeting tomorrow evening, though I may be a few minutes late. My list from this morning follows. Daryl Wild Turkey (female nonchalantly walked to withing 30 feet from me) Turkey Vulture Red-tailed Hawk Mourning Dove Belted Kingfisher Red-bellied Woodpecker Northern Flicker Acadian Flycatcher Eastern Phoebe Red-eyed American Crow Common Raven Norther Rough-winged Swallow Tree Swallow Barn Swallow Carolina Chickadee Tufted Titmouse White-breasted Nuthatch Carolina Wren Blue-gray Gnatcatcher Wood Thrush American Robin Blue-winged Warbler Black and White Warbler Hooded Warbler American Redstart (one immature male singing on territory and one mature male) Yellow Warlber Black-throated Green Warbler Yellow-breasted Chat Eastern Towhee Chipping Sparrow Song Sparrow Scarlet Tanager Northern Cardinal Rose-breasted Grosbeak Indigo Bunting Red-Winged Blackbird Common Grackle Brown-headed Cowbird American Goldfinch
