Hi All, This morning I was at my favorite spot in the backyard watching the morning warbler action. I was standing within a couple of feet of the grape arbor. Suddenly, from the left two Yellow-throated Warblers came zipping into the vines on the arbor behind me. I very very slowly turned my head and could see one Yellow-throated was feeding in the vines within a couple of feet of my head. Within a few seconds it flew away. The other, a few feet back in the arbor, fluttered about catching small insects among the vines. After a few seconds it fluttered away from the vines, flew toward me and disappeared behind me. It was then I felt the bird land on my shirt, on my lower back. I stood perfectly still; I felt the bird picking at something on my shirt. This went on for 8 or 10 seconds. I kept wishing my wife could see this from inside the house and grab a camera. Finally the bird flew off to my left to the nearest tree. Having a warbler fly down and actually perch on me was definitely a first. Other species observed in the short amount of time I had to watch were an adult male American Redstart, 2 Black-throated Green Warblers, 1 female Cape May that came to bathe in the yard stream, 3 Tennessee Warblers, a Rose-breasted Grosbeak, 2 Scarlet Tanagers, 2 Ruby-throated Hummingbirds, a White-eyed Vireo, a Wild Turkey and a Sharp-shinned Hawk that came swiftly through the yard and snatched a small bird.
