Ed,
I don't think I have ever seen Tree Swallows do that. Thanks for sharing it.

  Buchanan Birders,

I recently cleaned out one of my Bluebird boxes that had successfully fledged
some Bluebirds this spring and it was quickly investigated and inhabited by a
pair of Tree Swallows. While working in the yard yesterday I got to observe
what I would call a mating flight between the pair. The male and female would
hover facing each other about 25 feet off the ground. This hovering would
cause them to slowly loose altitude and they would spiral around each other til
just before hitting the ground and the sail back up and hover again. They did
this about 4 times as I was watching and then settled on a power line to rest.

The dance was beautiful to watch and a first for me.

  Ed
