A large group, consisting of family, friends and fellow birders, gathered at
the home of David and Susan Raines in Breaks this morning to share the day
with them, while watching the birds during their annual Sparrow Day.
Susan and David once again proved that they are great hosts by providing
food, drinks and a warm fire outside to take the chill off the fall morning.
Forty-one species were logged for the day with some of the notables being
Great Horned Owls, both Red-shouldered and Red-tailed Hawks, a
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, 4 Common Ravens, an unusually high number (10) of
Ruby-crowned Kinglets, along with 7 sparrow species.
Thanks to David and Susan for a wonderful day of birding,
Roger Mayhorn
