Our friend, Skip McClellan, out in Conroe, Texas has sent us a birding report from his area.
Thanks for the report Skip, Roger Mayhorn Compton Mt Subject: Southern Report
So much enjoyed the recent bird club picture from David Raines 2008 JanFeb196. What a great shot. No snow here in Texas but have some new birdsstarting to show up. Kind of sparse on the counts. Guess my neighbors are feeding well also. Hope you and yours are doing well. No pictures from meon this one. We have a couple of Nuthatches nesting in one of our patio bird houses. Been trying to take a picture of them, however, they are so quick, I have run out of patience holding the camera. The Goldfinch are completely gone now, put the feeders up for the season. Nothing else here will eat the thistle seed. Backyard count: Conroe Texas March 8, 2008 3 Purple Finches 2 Downey Woodpeckers 2 Red Bellied Woodpeckers 7 Morning Doves 2 Nuthatches 1 Carolina Wren 6 Female Cardinals 3 Male Cardinals 8 House Sparrows2 Sharp Shinned Hawks (One of them is eating my doves and some of the othersmall birds) At my Country Club Golf Course: Saturday also 1 Great Blue Heron 1 Snowy Egret 5 Blue Birds 3 Red Tailed Hawks All not a bad day, except for my golf game. Good Birding Skip McClellan Conroe, Texas
