One of the two Red-breasted Nuthatches that have been here all winter is

I had a Pine Siskin on the 22 and this morning there was a female Purple
Finch at the feeder.

Today, while weed-eating, I cut some grass on the bank below the driveway
that was hiding a Song Sparrow's nest leaving it exposed to the full sun and
to predators. It contains 5 eggs.

The female returned to the nest even though she was exposed, so to protect
her and the eggs I erected a little shelter which I covered with grass
cuttings.

I hope this does the trick until the grass grows out again or her brood has
fledged.
