Two Red-shouldered Hawks spent the day hanging around our yard. The smaller
birds were feeding heavily at the feeders, probably because of the inch of
snow we had this morning, but they ignored the hawks and the hawks ignored
them. The smaller birds seem to recognize which hawks are a danger to them
and which ones aren't.

Because of the snow we had quite a bit of activity at our feeders. We had 5
or 6 Cardinals, 5 Eastern Towhees, 6 White-throated Sparrows, 2 Song
Sparrows, about 6 Pine Siskins, 3 or 4 Goldfinches, 6 or 8 House Finches, a
couple of Titmice, a couple of White-breasted Nuthatches, a Carolina
Chickadee, a Carolina Wren, a Red-bellied Woodpecker, a couple of Downy
Woodpeckers, a couple of House Sparrows and a lone Starling.
