Today was the day for Purple Finches at our place. We had 17 of them and 2
Pine Siskins at the same time (see photo). We also had 25 Cedar Waxwings in
the stream, 4 White-crowned Sparrows and a few Yellow-rumped Warblers.
Yesterday, in addition to Purple Finches and Waxwings We had our FOS
Dark-eyed Junco, a Brown Thrasher, a late Tennessee Warbler, a late Magnolia
Warbler and a Palm Warbler.
The Magnolia is a new late date record for the area. The previous late date
was October 22, 2012 here at our place.
The Tennessee Warbler was not the latest date for that species. The latest
was found on Sparrow Day, October 29, 2005 on the Justus property on Guesses
Fork of Hurley.
