I've been reading old newspapers in the Library of Congress on the internet.
and I ran across some interesting bird news.

1908

. In Louisiana a million Robins a year were being eaten

. A Cedar waxwing was called a Cedar Bird and they were observed
playing a game by catching snowflakes

. A Horned Lark was called a Shore Lark

. Cowbirds (Called Cow Buntings) were laying eggs in yellow warbler
nests. The yellow warblers were observed building a new bottom over the
cowbird eggs.

I thought this would hit home; The year list from the 1917 Big Stone Gap Boy
Scouts. An impressive 101 species. Spelling is the same as in the newspaper
