You need a perspective adjustment. It could be raining and cold with just us
old birders and no birds.

Jane & I are on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. The weather has been
pretty miserable with lots of rain. We've been out looking for birds
nonetheless. Conditions were bad for photography but some scenes begged for
documentation. pic_1 was taken at the Pea Island end of the Herbert C.
Bonner Bridge over Oregon Inlet. This raft of birds was gathered there this
morning. It consists mostly of cormorants but also includes Brown Pelicans,
Northern Gannets, and several gull species. pic_2 is of the impoundment
just south of South Pond on the Pea Island NWR. It contains several species
of ducks including Redhead, Northern Shoveler, Hooded Merganser,
Green-winged Teal, and Mallard as well as American Coot, American White
Pelican, and other species. It shows only a part of that particular raft
and there were several others of similar size. Finally, pic_3 shows the
beach crowd. It was taken going north over the Bonner Bridge. Again, it
consists mainly of cormorants but also contains gulls and pelicans.
Yesterday, we had three Bald Eagles in a field on the Alligator River NWR.
One was an adult and the other two were younger birds. The adult and one of
the younger birds were on the ground about 100 yards apart. Perhaps they
had taken a pair of the many ducks which were in the flood part of the
fields.
If only the weather were nice. Sigh.
