A reminder:

The Beaverdam Trail in Hillsville is a 2.1 mile long walking trail

extending from the downtown area to the intersection of Beaverdam
Creek and Beaverdam Rd. It passes through some urban areas, some
old growth white pines, along fields and through pristine woodlands
bordering the creek. A remarkable variety of wildlife of all types
and interesting flowers abound in these diverse habitats, so it is
an exceptional place to observe nature.

The Blue Ridge Discovery Center and Blue Ridge Birders are jointly
sponsoring a morning hike to > experience the thrills of this natural wonder.
Both are being led
by Dr. Bill Dunson, Emeritus Prof. of Biology at Penn. State
University.

The hike is on Saturday July 25 from 9:30-11:30 am, starting at the
upper trail head in Hillsville, VA. Meet just north of the Carroll
County Courthouse (605 Pine St, Hillsville, VA). Coordinates: 36
46 08 N, 80 44 05 W. Driving directions from I 77. Go east at exit
14 on US 58/221. In Hilllsville turn left on US 52/N Main St.
Then turn right on Court St and left on Pine St. Turn immediately
right to enter the courthouse parking lot and look for the trail
head on the northern end of the lot behind the police station.
Some cars will be left at the far end of the trail where it meets
Beaverdam Rd to establish a shuttle.
