Greetings,
I will be coordinating the Hawk Watch for 2009. I am looking forward to being
on the mountain and seeing the hawks as they migrate through. That having been
said, HELP!!! Seriously, I will need the assistance of as many volunteers and
others as possible. The official dates of the Hawk Watch for this year will be
from September 7, 2009 until September 27, 2009. I usually arrive at the fire
tower between 8 and 9 AM and we stay until 6 or 6:30 PM. If you can only stay a
few hours, please come and join us. Every pair of eyes is important.
When you join us at the Hawk Watch please keep a couple of things in mind.
There is a moderately strenuos walk up to the tower on a rutted dirt road. You
will need to bring water, snacks, raingear, and a folding chair(or you can sit
on the rocks).
I will be on site everyday during the count period, weather permitting except
for Saturday, September 12th. If anyone can be there on that date to keep the
official count please contact me via email or on my cellphone at 540-250-2516.
