After more than 20 years of birding, it's difficult for me to get a life
bird in Buchanan County, but this morning I added an Evening Grosbeak to my
list. Thanks to David and Susan Raines for letting me gawk at their feeders
until the gorgeous rarity showed up.
On the way to the Breaks, I saw a Bald Eagle on the Levisa, around the
Looney's Creek area. It was perched in a tree near the roadside. I also
spotted six Common Mergansers flying over the bridge at Harman.
A great birding day.
