Sometimes a statement reaches deep into my funny bone and I go around with a stupid grin on my face and I may just burst into giggles. The description of Dave Worley’s not crossing the creek has done this to me. Dave may never speak to me again. He asked if I could help, and I agreed. He had been in touch with Eric who suggested that he bring a dip net to facilitate the capture. After searching for the bird for nearly an hour, we finally located it. It was on the creek bank on the same side as Eric and opposite Dave and me. Since we had the net, there was no choice but for me to cross the creek with the net (Dave being the coward that he is). With the bird between Eric and me, it took to the creek and crossed over to Dave’s side. Eric and I followed with Eric getting downstream and I upstream with Dave on the bank above him. I was able to approach and put the net over the bird. We took it to the local vet where it will be x-rayed and evaluated. From there, it will be taken to a rehabilitator in Marion. Here’s a picture of Dave and Eric with the captured bird. <image003.jpg> Dave took some cell phone video which I hope to get tomorrow. I will post the story along with some other pictures on the RCBC web site when I do. Another day in the life of a socializing, NCB. Jerry
