The BCBC's Horn Mountain birding outing will be this coming Saturday, May
18. We will meet at 8:00 a.m. at Sonny's Quick Stop just off Rt. 460 on Rt
680. We will then caravan and bird up the back side of Horn Mountain, then
across the mountain and down the other side to the Whitewood area. From
there we will bird up Compton Mountain following Rt. 628. At the top of the
mountain we will turn left on Rt. 639 and bird our way around the mountain
to our place (the Mayhorns'), where Lynda will have a lunch prepared for us
around noon.
In order to prepare enough food Lynda needs to know how many will be coming
by for lunch. Please send me an email by Thursday to let us know if you plan
to be here. If you can't take part in the birding, but would like to come by
for lunch, you are welcome to do so. Just let us know you are coming.
I hope you can join us. This trip always produces a lot of birds while
traveling through some beautiful woodland. The male birds are on territory
and singing, and they are in their brightest plumage for the mating season.
