Subject: [bcbirdclub] Glossy Ibis
Today, Roger Lemaster, Mike Sanders and I headed west to Knoxville TN to try
for the Brant that had been reported there. We dipped on the Brant so we
decided to stop at the Walmart Distribution Center in Green Co. We didn’t find
much there, but as we were leaving, Mike spotted a Loggerhead Shrike which
according to eBird is rare for the area. After leaving there, we decided to
drive some of the surrounding back roads. We happened by a pond in a distant
field where we spotted a white goose amongst many Canada’s and other waterfowl.
We decided to scope the pond and while I was trying to get a look at the white
Goose an Ibis walked through my field of view. At this point we decided to try
to contact the landowner to get a closer look. Long story not too short we
found and ID’d the Glossy Ibis along with four Greater White-fronted Geese.
Not a bad end to an otherwise uneventful day of birding!
