<blockquote>
When: Saturday, September 26
Where: Doughton State Park, http://www.visitnc.com/listing/doughton-park
Description: Join Aaron Floyd and Scott Jackson-Ricketts for a fall migration
bird walk. We will meet at milepost 240 at 8am and bird a variety of habitats
including nearby trails. Expect wood warblers and other neo-tropic migrants
such as orioles and grosbeaks, as well as dragonflies and butterflies.
As the morning warms up, hawks will be catching the thermals for another day of
their south-bound migration…especially broad-wings. Later in the day, consider
joining Jim Keighton of Blue Ridge Birders fame at milepost 235. Mahogany Rock
is a well-known and attended hawk watch site. So, bring a lunch, chair, big hat
and your scopes and binoculars for a fun filled day of birding in the Blue
Ridge!
