Susan and I participated in a Breaks Park Elk Tour yesterday. We arrived at the
Elk restoration site on Warfork at 6:00pm and began watching for elk and ,of
course, birds. I had hoped to find some grassland species while there but that
didn't happen. The only birds observed were a lone Sharp-shinned Hawk and a
Song Sparrow. The elk did not disappoint though, as a group of 5 bulls came out
into a nearby field. We boarded our bus and were able to get close enough for
some photos. I've attached one of the pics I was able to get as the sun was
setting.
